Actor Matt Smith is one talented and lucky chap; he has been a part of three of the most famous franchises in the world. Be it a Marvel villain in Morbius, a former enigmatic Doctor Who, or a hot-headed Prince Daemon Targaryen in the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel, he has seen the best and the worst of it all. Smith was also a part of the popular historical drama The Crown, where he played Prince Philip until season 3, was replaced by Game of Thrones alum Tobias Menzies later on.
In a recent interview on Today, Smith revealed which of the British Royals had actually watched the TV show based on their lives. He said,
“I heard the queen had watched it. And she used to watch it on a projector on a Sunday night, apparently. I know that Philip definitely didn’t. A friend of mine sat next to him at a dinner once, and he asked him … My friend couldn’t resist. By the end of the meal, he was like, ‘Philip, I have to ask. Have you watched The Crown?’ And [he] apparently turned ’round to him and went, ‘Don’t be ridiculous.'”
Other than Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Harry was one of the Royals who had watched the show. Smith recalled, “He walked up to me, and he went, “Grandad”. He’d watched the show!” Smith said he “can’t claim to know if he watches it currently,” but Prince Harry had “watched a bit of it then.”
