Matt Smith as Prince Phillip on the Crown(Left), Prince Harry (Right)
Matt Smith currently plays the Rogue Prince in House of the Dragon, but this is not his first time playing a prince. His portrayal of a young Prince Philip in the hit Netflix series, The Crown, garnered him a lot of love from fans, critics, and Prince Harry. In his recent appearance on The Today Show, Matt Smith recalled the time the prince called him ‘Granddad’ at a polo match.

“I met Harry once, at polo, which sounds a bit grand, but it wasn’t that grand, and he walked up to me and went, ‘Granddad,'” says Smith.
He continued, “He watched the show! Well, I can’t claim to know if he watches it currently, but he watched a bit of it then.”
The star also had a brief interaction with the actual Prince Phillip at one of his friends’ dinner parties. His friend and the Prince shortly discussed ‘The Crown’ at the dinner table. As the meal came to a close, the friend asked Prince Philip if he had seen the show to which the actor said he replied with a “Don’t be ridiculous.”
Matt Smith can definitely play royalty well with how well received he is as Daemon Targaryen on House of the Dragon. What do you think of his portrayal? Let us know in the comments.
