Alcock is still new to the scene, but she has had several acting roles. Her first foray into television came in 2014 with a role in Wonderland. Who does Milly Alcock play In House of The Dragon?

Emma D'Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of Dragon

Milly Alcock has been cast as the younger version of Rhaenyra Targaryen for the upcoming series, House of the Dragon. This is an exciting role for Alcock, as she can explore the character in more depth.

Though all of the characters in House of the Dragon will be integral to the story, none more than Rhaenyra Targaryen. Born to Viserys Targaryen, she is named heir and takes center stage in the Dance of the Dragons- a story which House of the Dragon will follow from her childhood through to her life. Set against the backdrop of political drama, wars, and more, Rhaenyra’s story is one not to be missed.

Rhaenyra Targaryen is certainly a capable heir to her father’s throne in the novel. She is portrayed as being quite intelligent and resourceful, showing great interest in learning about the realm she stands to inherit.

That being said, Rhaenyra became the successor to the Iron Throne. Even though she was already a princess, her new royal duty made her very arrogant. Rhaenyra is also known for riding the dragon, Syrax. Let’s check out what the actress playing young Rhaenyra has to say about her role.

Milly Alcock about her role In House of the Dragon

Milly Alcock in House of the Dragon

Alcock made her House of the Dragon red carpet premiere in Los Angeles back in July. But it wasn’t until recently that she realized just how big of a deal the show actually is. Walking down the red carpet, she felt like a veteran next to all of the other first-timers. Now, she’s eagerly awaiting the show’s release so that she can see all of her hard work come to fruition.

During an interview with IndieWire, Alcock echoed that –

House of the Dragon really creates a nuanced conversation of misogyny. We don’t only explore it through a level of women being shut down and the patriarchy but also go in-depth about the internalized misogyny women constantly face and the competitiveness. Alicent and Rhaenyra’s relationship is at the forefront of that conversation.

With that being said, Milly Alcock’s performance in House of the Dragon is one that audiences are looking forward to seeing. George R.R. Martin’s story is one that is full of detail and depth, and viewers can’t wait to see how it unfolds on-screen. The first episode of House of the Dragon will be released on Sunday, August 21 – so be sure to mark the date in your calendar.
